TEA COCKTAILS

One of the [many] things we love about tea is how versatile of an ingredient it is. Tea comes in so many varieties, colours, and flavours, so it’s hard to imagine there isn’t a tea out there for everyone. But if you’re still not convinced, add some tea to your evening cocktails this summer and see for yourself! Below is our guide to blending the best tea cocktails!

  • Keep It Sweet Without The Sugar
  • Herbal or fruit teas are the perfect mixer for cocktails of the sweeter variety without the added guilt. Using a tea like Strawberry Kiwi or Mojito Raspberry Mint in your cocktail will offer the sweet and fruity flavour without the added sugars and without the hangover (SCORE)!
  • Make It Strong
  • When steeping tea with the intention of adding it to a cocktail, it’s important that you steep it extra strong. Adding ice and spirits to your tea will dilute the flavour, so it’s important that you use twice the amount of tea you normally would so the wonderful tea flavour isn’t lost!
  • 4:1
  • Keeping in theme with maintain the tea flavour, a good ratio of tea to alcohol to follow is 4-parts (double strength) tea to 1 part alcohol. Of course this is just a basic guideline, and we encourage you to play around with your own proportions to find what best suits your preferences!
  • Find The Right Flavour
  • Tea comes in so many different flavours, so you’re sure to find one for your cocktail. If you’re after something bold and smoky, Lapsang Souchong is what you’re after. Bold and tannic? Assam is what you’re after. A light and floral Jasmine is always a lovely addition to any beverage. But if you really want to make a statement, Matcha green tea is versatile and impressive and offers a light, refreshing, slightly grassy taste. Whatever flavour you’re after, there’s a tea out there for you!
